FLOW Fusion receives £250k to translate research into healthcare impact
Abertay University has been awarded £250,000 from the Scottish Government’s Proof of Concept Fund to develop FLOW Fusion, an advanced digital twin tool aimed at supporting healthcare planning, service improvement and decision-making.
The project builds on work developed through Design HOPES, including the FLOW serious game, which uses anonymised NHS data to explore how individual patient decisions can affect the wider healthcare system. FLOW Fusion combines data-driven simulation, game engine technology and user-centred design to enable clinicians and service teams to test “what if” scenarios and better anticipate system pressures.
“This funding is an exciting opportunity to translate insights from the FLOW game into real-world impact, supporting training and planning through a digital twin of the healthcare system.”
– Professor Mel Woods, Co-Director of Design HOPES
