Design HOPES were proud to be featured in the recent UKRI Annual Report – you can download and read the full report here. Speaking about the report UKRI Chief Executive, Professor Ian Chapman, stated:

Research and innovation are vital to solving the UK’s greatest challenges and UKRI sits at the heart of public investment in that. We are advancing knowledge, improving lives and driving growth.

The work that was featured showcased our Reusable Theatre Caps project – a pioneering co-design initiative with collaborators at NHS Scotland, and colleagues at the University of Strathclyde and Heriot-Watt University. Based on initial testing each re-usable theatre cap has the potential to remove 500 single-use plastic caps from circulation, and to localise production and distribution, creating new green jobs in the process.
