Gary McCartan

Gary McCartan is an award winning game developer and studio founder. Between 2012 and 2017, he worked as a qualified nurse in the NHS, specialising in emergency and medical care. With a passion & curiosity for games, Gary returned to education to study games development at Abertay University. Today, he leads creative projects that explore innovative gameplay experiences, striving to make a positive impact within the gaming industry.

Design HOPES is a collaborative design-led research initiative, comprising five Scottish Universities (University of Strathclyde, University of Dundee, Heriot Watt University, Abertay University, and the University of Edinburgh), NHS Scotland, the third sector, and design organisations.

This project is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) as part of the Future Observatory GTE Hub Programme at the Design Museum.
