Dr. Jen Ballie holds a dual appointment as the Head of Design Research at V&A Dundee and as a Reader at DJCAD, University of Dundee. Her research apply design research to respond to big 21st century design challenges from – through material innovation and design futures thinking. Jen is leading Design for Scotland – a national design research programme at V&A Dundee and was previously a Co-I on AHRC Creative Cluster – InGAME. She is a member of the Design Research Society and the European Academy of Design, and her contributions to the field are internationally recognised through her publications on design research.

Design HOPES is a collaborative design-led research initiative, comprising five Scottish Universities (University of Strathclyde, University of Dundee, Heriot Watt University, Abertay University, and the University of Edinburgh), NHS Scotland, the third sector, and design organisations.

This project is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) as part of the Future Observatory GTE Hub Programme at the Design Museum.
