Josafinni Porter Chambers

Intern

Finni is a participatory spatial designer and researcher with a background in socially engaged and sustainable design. She holds both an MA and BA in Interior Design from the Glasgow School of Art, where she is currently a visiting lecturer. Her practice is rooted in community collaboration, ecological thinking, and the relationship between design and wellbeing.

She is the founder of Josafinni Studio, a practice that explores how spatial design can support community, mental health, disability, and neurodivergence through participatory approaches. Her projects include The Nook (with Anna Campble-Jones for SAMH), a mental health centre where inclusive design supports wellbeing, as well as community-led commissions with Sustrans, Renfrewshire Council, and Material Source.

Within DesignHOPES, Finni has helped bring the Mosaic Landscapes project to life with her design expertise, contributing within the communities theme and more.

Design HOPES is a collaborative design-led research initiative, comprising five Scottish Universities (University of Strathclyde, University of Dundee, Heriot Watt University, Abertay University, and the University of Edinburgh), NHS Scotland, the third sector, and design organisations.

This project is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) as part of the Future Observatory GTE Hub Programme at the Design Museum [grant number AH/Y00373X/1].
